History, Philosophy and Mission Statement BECK ASSOCIATES AT THE SUSQUEHANNA INSTITUTE was founded in 1984 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, by Dr. Edward S. Beck ( then Professional Counselor and Affiliate Assistant Professor of Psychology at Penn State-Harrisburg). The success of the Institute allowed him to leave full-time academia in 1991 to become full-time Director. The Mission of the Institute is to provide affordable, customized, high quality, comprehensive, multidisciplinary, culturally diverse clinical, consultation and educational services to individuals, groups and organizations who need our services. It is the policy of the Institute to offer clinical appointments to any who would seek our services regardless of ability to pay, health insurance status or sliding scale status. With this policy, we have been able to provide pro-bono and sub sliding scale services to hundreds of clients who would not otherwise have been able to secure quality counseling services. Since 1984 BECK ASSOCIATES has provided consultation services to over 200 businesses, organizations, agencies and educational institutions and clinical and educational services to over 9000 individuals and families. Associates realize that as we head into the 21st century, peoples lives have become very complicated making solutions to problems difficult and not always appearing within reach. Our consultants view problem solving from a human development perspective and work with individuals, groups and organizations to become efficiently and effectively empowered to find unique solutions to unique problems. |
